The Chicago Bears will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football to conclude Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson’s team is coming off a 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings – a game that featured some significant injuries. Caleb Williams injured his hamstring midway through the fourth quarter, forcing backup Tyson Bagent to take over.
On the first third down of the game, Vikings pass rusher Andrew Van Ginkel hit Bagent and forced an incomplete pass. The Bears later learned that Bagent sustained a concussion on that play and is currently in concussion protocol.
Bears preparing for Week 3 without Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent
With the Bears down their top two quarterbacks, 38-year-old veteran Case Keenum is next in line. He last played in a regular-season game on Christmas Eve of the 2023 season, when he was with the Houston Texans. Keenum completed 11 of 17 passes for 62 yards and threw two interceptions. The veteran quarterback was benched late in the third quarter.
Johnson will have to prepare Keenum for Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's defense. Through the first two weeks, the Eagles have allowed the 11th-fewest total yards (293) and the 12th-fewest points per game (21.0).
The last time the Bears played Fangio's defense, they ran all over the Eagles in a 24-15 victory on Black Friday last season. The Bears finished with 281 total rushing yards and two touchdowns. Kyle Monangai led the way with his 130 yards on the ground and one touchdown, and D'Andre Swift added another 125 yards and the other score.
Eagles' Vic Fangio knows what to expect with Bears' offense
Fangio spoke with local reporters earlier this week and was asked about Williams’ influence on Chicago's run game and how it will look if he doesn't play in Week 3. The veteran defensive coordinator doesn't believe Williams affects how Chicago runs the ball because Johnson's scheme relies heavily on under-center play. The Bears are not a gun zone-read, QB-generated run-type offense.
“They're under under center, handing it off,” Fangio said. “They do a great job of blocking.”
On the quarterback front, Fangio said the Eagles don't have enough information yet to prepare for Keenum. The experienced defensive coordinator mentioned that his defense will prepare for Chicago's offense, and he doesn't believe it “will change a whole lot schematically” with Keenum under center.

The Bears are looking to rebound after a disappointing performance against the Vikings, but Fangio's Eagles are in the way of making that stand.
