New Chicago Bears defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has established himself as one of the most disruptive players in the NFL.
Chicago sent two first-round picks and a 2027 fourth-rounder to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the game-wrecking defensive player and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
Over the last three seasons, he is the only interior defensive lineman to clear the 95th percentile in pressures, sacks, run stops, tackles for loss, and QB hits, according to SumerSports.
The Bears added a defensive lineman that opposing offenses must account for on every snap. Coaches obviously realize this, and so do opposing players. The Titans will play the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8, and before Chicago's massive trade, the Bengals were planning to face Simmons.
Reactions to Bears' trade of Jeffery Simmons
Cincinnati center Ted Karras was asked about his preparation for this game, knowing that a key piece of the Titans’ defensive line is no longer on the team.
“Well, two hours of anxiety last night is gone."
The Indianapolis Colts traded All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, sending a 2027 fourth-round pick in exchange for an immediate upgrade on the offensive line.
Nelson and Simmons have played each other twice a year since 2019, and they first met in Week 6. In that game, Simmons finished with two sacks and a season-high seven quarterback pressures.
The Bears will travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks at Lumen Field to conclude Week 8 of the NFL season on Monday Night Football. Nelson was asked about the Bears' trade for Simmons and whether he's the Seahawks’ next trade target.
Nelson called Simmons an amazing football player and competitor. He also said, “Man, I can't get away from this guy.”
That's coming from an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, which shows how much respect Nelson has for Simmons and his play.
Simmons has already visited Halas Hall, the Bears' training facility, and he is scheduled to speak to the media after Friday's practice. With plenty of anticipation surrounding this trade, it will be interesting to hear from Simmons and what he makes of the expectations now on this Bears team, especially with him added to the defense.

Simmons will rejoin former college teammates Montez Sweat and James Lynch, who played two seasons with Simmons in Tennessee. Both know exactly what Simmons brings to the defense and the team, and that presence is now part of the Chicago Bears' organization.
