Not looking good.

Most Chicago Bears fans would like to forget about the mistake the team made with 2023 third-round pick Zacch Pickens, and while the team got rid of him, it seems that the Kansas City Chiefs are learning the same mistake.

The Chiefs announced several moves, including releasing Pickens from the roster. He played just three games last season for Kansas City after signing him at the end of training camp before the 2025 campaign, racking up five tackles.

His failures in Chicago are well-documented, as the former Day 2 pick only lasted two years with the Bears. He made 39 tackles, four quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble in 26 games.

Bears watching their former draft pick move one step closer to being out of the league

Pickens has just struggled to find his footing in the NFL since the Bears took a chance on him. It's one of the few draft picks that general manager Ryan Poles has to regret making, as there were high hopes for him, and he only got halfway through his rookie contract.

That selection really set back a defensive line that has struggled pretty much every year during the Poles era. The Bears are still looking for defensive tackles and edge rushers to help out the unit, which has brought a lot of frustration from the fan base about how they have approached it.

As for what happens with Pickens now, he is still young, and since he's only been on two teams, there will be someone who brings him in as a training camp body. Whether he makes that roster will be another question on its own.
