Yeah he should be the guy.

After just one preseason game played, the Chicago Bears might be ready to go with their rookie to be one of their starters.

One of the most talked-about position battles going on in training camp is the left tackle job between Ozzy Trapilo and Braxton Jones. They both got their first crack at making a good impression with the new Bears coaching staff in their 24-24 tie against the Miami Dolphins in preseason game number one.

Jones got the start for the Bears before Trapilo filled in after him. Both got a chance to play some extended time on the field and the results were pretty clear to all Bears fans that Trapilo might have won the day.

It wasn't all negative for Jones as he had some pleasant moments, but he had a viral moment that is hard to unsee. Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent threw an incredible touchdown to Maurice Alexander in the second quarter on fourth down in the face of pressure. That pressure was caused by Jones completely missing the block.

Trapilo, on the other hand, had a pretty good day at left tackle when he played with not many pressures being allowed by him. He seemed more consistent in there versus Jones, and while he admitted to having some jitters going into the game, he played well enough to be able to hide it.

After one preseason game, Trapilo looked like the better option at left tackle than Jones. There is a chance that Trapilo will get the start next week, with Caleb Williams and the rest of the starters most likely to get extended playing time. Chicago could opt to split the first team reps between Jones and Trapilo next week against the Buffalo Bills to see which one holds up.

There's plenty of preseason left over, and some work needs to be done at left tackle, but for now, Trapilo seems to be out ahead of Jones.
