The 2025 campaign has undoubtedly been an interesting one for Chicago Bears right tackle Darnell Wright.
For the most part, Bears fans can argue that Wright has had a decent season for an offensive line that has been inconsistent at best. The problem has been the large number of penalties he has had, as Wright picked up six penalties through the first three games.
Things got rougher for Wright as an elbow injury he suffered in the Week 3 Dallas Cowboys win caused him to miss the next week against the Las Vegas Raiders. It wasn't even 100% certain that he would play in the Washington Commanders game coming out of the bye week.
He ended up stepping on the field and put up what everyone would say his best game of the season.
Wright put on the show on the Bears' offensive line vs. Commanders
With the elbow brace on his right arm and all, Wright put on a show with the offensive line against Washington. The most noticeable aspect of his performance was that, for the first time this season, he was not called for any penalty in the game.
Wright also played a massive role in the Bears finally getting the running game going. Chicago finished with a season-high 145 yards, with D'Andre Swift leading the way with his 100-yard game of the year with 108. In many of Swift's runs, Wright pulled out in front and was the lead blocker for his big plays.
Even the pass protection was a significant improvement for the whole offensive line, but was highlighted by Wright. While he's arguably been the best pass protector on the team, Wright still should receive praise for his play.
After the massive 25-24 win over the Commanders, every Bears fan was praising Wright for his play. PFF gave him an overall grade of 75.7, the fourth highest of any player on Chicago in the game.
This season, Wright has posted a PFF overall grade of 71, ranking 27th out of 114 tackles. His run blocking grade was the highest at 78.9, ranking 11th in the NFL.
Brett Kollmann added on X that Wright is allowing a pressure rate of 2.1% on true dropbacks with just one pressure out of 48 reps. Only two other offensive linemen in the NFL are better than Wright in that category.

The only two tackles in the league better than that rate are Joe Alt and Brian O'Neill.

If the penalties can continue to disappear for Wright, he has a chance to end up on everyone's radar as one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL.
