While there are so many Chicago Bears fans celebrating Jake Moody nailing a game-winning field goal against the Washington Commanders, others had their attention on ESPN commentator Troy Aikman and his treatment of Caleb Williams on his broadcast.
Aikman faced criticism for his harsh critiques of Williams and for even describing his touchdown pass to D'Andre Swift in the fourth quarter of the Commanders as "lucky." This sparked Bears head Ben Johnson to make a subtle comment about it the next day on Chicago radio, and Williams to make a post on social media about it.
The story didn't die down as Williams had to address it with the media, as he told them that he did not get a chance to meet Aikman before the game in their production meeting. Williams added that he tried to call Aikman, but did not get a response back.
Naturally, the attention now turns to the next broadcast team that will be handling the Bears-Saints game to see how things go.
Kevin Kugler tells it all about his meeting with Williams
FOX play-by-play commentator Kevin Kugler was on 670 The Score in Chicago as he will be on the call with Daryl "Moose" Johnston for the Bears-Saints game. Kugler was first asked if he and Johnston were able to meet with Williams. Kugler had a different answer from the one Aikman would have been able to give.
"We did, yes. I know that's been a big topic of conversation this week. We did talk to Caleb Williams. Had a good chat with him. He was very eager to break down everything that was going on with his team and we very much enjoyed that. Yeah, I know that's been a conversation, but he was right there with us right when we expected him to be and had a good chat with him."
Kugler added that Williams was only five minutes late for the meeting, but that wasn't a big deal for them. From his memory, for every game Kugler has called, Williams has always attended the production meetings.

Most people could chalk it up to a miscommunication between Aikman and Williams, but the next time the Bears are on an ESPN broadcast with Aikman, it will be interesting to see if they meet that next time around.
