While all the talk from the Chicago Bears' impressive 25-24 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 6 should be focused on what happened on the field, it's been shifted to what happened in the booth.

Many who watched the game on ABC noticed that ESPN NFL commentator Troy Aikman was unusually critical of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and the team, more so than of Jayden Daniels and the Commanders. One play in particular that caught people's attention was Williams' 55-yard touchdown pass to D'Andre Swift in the fourth quarter that Aikman called "lucky."

This sparks Bears head coach Ben Johnson to throw some subtle shade at Aikman the day after on Chicago radio. Williams himself took to social media to fire back with some light-hearted fun. Some interpreted it as a war of words between the Bears and Aikman.

It appears that it went from the social media to a press conference for Williams as reporters had to ask about the situation.

Williams responds on Aikman comments and social media post

During Williams' presser, he addressed people from the outside who were making negative comments about the team. For the second-year quarterback, he's not even thinking about it.

"People are going to say what they have to say," Williams said via ESPN's Courtney Cronin. "We win, we lose; people have stuff to say. It was lucky, it was not lucky; people have stuff to say. Have a bad game, have a good game; people have stuff to say.

"It doesn't matter. We're only worried about what's going on here within this building and with these guys. That's all I can say about that."

A follow-up to that question was that Williams was asked to address the post he made on social media regarding the "lucky" comment made by Aikman. It wasn't anything serious on Williams' part.

“It’s fun. Fun trolls. I was messing around.”

An interesting part of the press conference was that Williams was actually not able to meet with the Monday Night Football crew while they were speaking with the team. Williams did try to Aikman at a later time, but did not get a response back from him.

Williams finished the game, completing 17 of 29 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown pass with zero interceptions. He added a first-half rushing touchdown in the win.

Was it Aikman upset that Williams stood him up? Was it him just being honest in the booth? Who knows, but the Bears are 3-2 and on a three-game winning streak, and no "luck" was part of this run for them. They earned it.
