The Chicago Bears need help on the defensive and offensive lines, so fans in the Windy City are expecting a lot of picks in those groups.
Edge rusher seems to be a popular option among the fan base, but draft experts are looking at offensive tackle to be the prediction at pick 25. FanSided's Lou Scataglia has his own idea for the Bears as he likes them taking Clemson defensive tackle, Peter Woods.
"The Bears still need to get more stout along the defensive line. In an offseason where the defense did see some notable change, more is needed for this team to take the next step. What we saw in 2025 was an awesome step forward, but the defense wasn’t that great at getting to the passer and was relatively inconsistent on a down-to-down basis. Sure, they created a ton of takeaways, but we already saw why that wasn’t viewed as good enough. Much of the secondary looks different, the team signed Devin Bush, and in this mock draft, the Bears take Peter Woods. What sticks out with Woods is his ability to play all over the defensive line. He doesn’t necessarily fit into a certain position on the front, which could be to the defense’s benefit. If the defense plays a bit better, and we see quarterback Caleb Williams button up that completion percentage, this team could truly be special in 2026 and perhaps beyond."
Peter Woods is the prediction from the latest mock draft
Woods makes a ton of sense for the Bears, as he has been the popular name among all the mock drafts as the selection. It's a position that definitely has to be filled, and it might not be addressed appropriately in the later rounds.
The Bears currently have Gervon Dexter and Grady Jarrett as the top options at defensive tackle. Jarrett is getting up there in age and only has two more years on his contract, so he might not even finish that contract. Dexter is the future at defensive tackle, but after hiring a new agent, he might be looking for a big payday.
Chicago did all three defensive tackles in free agency to add some depth to the position as well. Woods would not only provide depth, but would also be a Day 1 starter in the rotation and play often.
