If the Chicago Bears deserve something, it is that they keep inventing new, if unusual, ways to lose games every week. They have done plenty of that under Matt Eberflus. And yet, the 23-20 loss against the Detroit Lions on the Thanksgiving holiday might top any of the horrendous losses this team has suffered under his tenure.

This game will be forever remembered as when the entire country found out what a dumb coach Matt Eberflus is due to another clock mismanagement that cost the Bears a chance to snap their five-game losing streak. As always, Eberflus saw nothing wrong with his clock management on the last drive and found someone to blame other than himself in his postgame press conference.

Eberflus was exposed on a national level.

The timing was right for the Bears ownership to finally move on from him after this loss.

And yet this morning, looking tired and defeated, Matt Eberflus remained employed as he showed up to his press conference. Although his words sounded less convincing, he spoke about being confident about coaching the San Francisco game next Sunday, and he mentioned he has another meeting scheduled with team president Kevin Warren and general manager Ryan Poles later.

At this point, you might as well fire Poles along with Eberflus. He brought him back for this season and he is equally responsible for the mess Eberflus has created. He lost all credibility for not moving on from Eberflus last night or Friday morning when he had his chance.

And even if they still fire Eberflus later today or over the weekend, what was the point of allowing him to do the press conference Friday morning?

Safety Jaquan Brisker, who has been sidelined for more than a month with a concussion and has been active on X recently summed up the reaction from the players and the fans.

The Bears have now lost six straight games and dropped to 4-8. The Bears are 2-13 against the NFC North in the last three years. The players are 100% done with him and are speaking out more than ever. The Bears are now a national punching bag thanks to Eberflus.

By standing pat, the organization risks damaging their own brand further while causing more dissension between players and Matt Eberflus. The credibility of the Chicago Bears took a significant blow today. But they reaffirm our fears that they do not care or share the same level of urgency and concerns today.
