It was a Monday to forget for Chicago Bears' head coach Matt Eberflus. After going viral for his "connection" issues during an interview with ESPN 1000, Eberflus did himself no favors with a press conference to forget on Monday afternoon at Halas Hall.

Instead of clarifying offensive coordinator Shane Waldron's status, Eberflus dodged the questions while not confirming whether Waldron will still be part of the team's offensive coaching staff.

Eberflus has maintained that he has 100% discretion over the decision on Waldron's future. However, Eberflus' failure to fully discuss what has broken the Bears as a team continues to suggest he is sinking in his third year as the team's head coach.

Is Eberflus worried about hurting Waldron's feelings because they are not sure whether to fire him or demote him at this point? Waldron already experienced it with Seattle after Pete Carroll was let go last off-season. Even ex-Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was just fired by the Las Vegas Raiders after he was fired by Eberflus within a year. These coaches know it is business. Eberflus will likely find that out at the end of the organization.

The situation between Eberflus and Waldron also highlights the lack of awareness the Bears have as an organization. The dysfunction that the Bears have had this week led Adam Schefter of ESPN to speculate that the Bears may even consider benching Caleb Williams in favor of Tyson Bagent. The reason behind that guess from Schefter is that the Bears realize they do not have the offensive line to protect Williams. It was an idea that never made sense and to Eberflus' credit, the head coach did confirm that there will be no change at the quarterback position.
