As we approach the 2025 NFL Draft, the mock drafts from big industry names such as Mel Kiper will become more accurate. So, it is notable that he had the Bears selecting Mykel Williams, the edge rusher from Georgia with the tenth overall pick.
First, it is worth noting that big names such as Ashton Jeanty, and Tyler Warren were gone, however, both offensive lineman Will Campbell and Armand Membou were available when the Bears took Williams in this mock.
This is going to have Bears fans divided. First, there is a debate between the offensive line or defensive line in this scenario. Plenty of fans will want them to continue to stack the offense. Beyond that, the Bears also could be eyeing a name like Shemar Stewart with this pick.
Stewart has production concerns, but the same can be said for Mykel Williams. While Stewart had an elite NFL combine, Williams had an average pro day at Georgia. Both fit the mold that Dennis Allen likes in his linemen, but Stewart may fit better as a player that Poles tends to draft.
So, this pick not only goes against the grain of an offensive lineman, but some fans will want a completely different edge rusher. If the board breaks this way, there will be fans with opinions in all directions, and it will be hard to find a consensus that all fans approve of.
Still, the Bears may be in this situation where they are debating these very things on draft night. As the draft gets closer the buzz that Ashton Jeanty may not make it to the tenth overall pick has picked up, and it has Bears fans debating what they would do if that is the case.
