New 2027 mock draft suggests Bears might have to consider life without All-Pro

Do we have to?

The Chicago Bears have placed an emphasis on the offensive line over the last two offseasons to make sure they are set up for the present and the future.

They used a second-round pick on Iowa center Logan Jones to be the long-term solution at the position, but the Bears might end up doing something similar in the 2027 NFL Draft. CBS Sports writer Ryan Wilson released his 2027 NFL mock draft, as he has the Bears selecting Missouri offensive lineman Cayden Green.

"Green plays with a sturdy anchor against power rushers, and while he needs to play with lower pads in the run game, his high-level awareness makes him a reliable blindside protector whose NFL future could be inside at guard."

Bears might be looking at the future left guard with Cayden Green prediction

Green was one of the top offensive linemen in the SEC as he was named to the conference's first team. He played 11 games as the left tackle for the Tigers last year, but was the left guard for the program in 2024.

If the Bears actually went down this route and selected Green, this would be a clear sign that they are looking to have a successor for Joe Thuney at left guard. His experience at the position would be huge to have, as he can sit behind him and learn.

It could also mean that Green might be considered for the left tackle position if they are not completely sold on Ozzy Trapilo returning from his injury. No evidence was shown during the 2025 season that would stray Chicago away from rolling with Trapilo moving forward, but one year can make a big difference, and a lot can change.

The Bears need help at other positions, but it has been clear that general manager Ryan Poles is mainly focused on making sure the offensive line never allows 68 sacks in a season, as they did in 2024. Their prediction of selecting Green in the first round next year makes sense.
