3 controversial moves Ryan Poles could make to improve the Chicago Bears roster
The Chicago Bears could find royal depth at the tackle position
There are probably as many Larry Borom truthers out there as there are Tyson Bagent truthers. If the Chicago Bears really want to shake things up, signing former Chiefs tackle Prince Tega Wanogho to a one-year deal could be the answer. I know the Bears drafted Kiran Amegadjie in the third round, but he's dealing with an injury that could keep him off the field until the start of training camp.
Larry Borom showed promise early on in his career, but he has regressed to the point of what looks like no return now. Although Wanogho isn't some elite free agent, Ryan Poles should be very familiar with him seeing he was the Executive Director of Player Personnel in 2021 when the Chiefs signed him. In 2020, Ian Cunningham was Assistant Director of Player Personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles — the team that drafted Wanogho that year in the sixth round.
With the familiarity of both Cunningham and Poles, Wanogho seems like the perfect addition to the Bears roster if it looks like Amegadjie is going to miss some valuable time this offseason. He's a better run blocker than a pass blocker, but he should be a cheap free-agent addition who can probably beat out Borom this offseason.
