Chicago Bears 7-round mock draft with a double trade back
By Joseph Herff
Chicago Bears Round 3 | Pick No. 93: Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, CB
Apparently I couldn't get enough with the abbreviation names. The Bears desperately still need defensive help even if we want to help Justin Fields. They had one of the worst defenses in football and they truly need a stronger foundation in each position group. Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson can find a place on this roster immediately with playing time given his ability.
If you recognize the "Tomlinson", yes, Tre'Vius is actually the nephew of LaDanian Tomlinson. Hodges-Tomlinson comes out of TCU as a nearly completely polished man-coverage cornerback as TCU mainly just runs man coverage. The main downfall on him is his size and strength (5' 8", 178 lbs), but he makes up for it in his elite speed and explosion. His skill set greatly fits the ability to be a starting slot corner in the NFL.
Now, I may catch some hate drafting a slot corner in the 3rd round, but this would complete the Bears secondary. With Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson on the outside, Hodges-Tomlinson could immediately slide into the starting role in a position that is extremely important to Matt Eberflus's defense.
