Chicago Bears RB No.5: Mohamed Ibrahim

Many fans may object to taking a running back in the first three rounds of the draft. The team has so many gaping needs, it would make sense to target the essentials first. In this case, the Bears may be best suited for a day-three prospect like Mohamed Ibrahim.

Ibrahim is plain, simple, and frankly, a little boring as a prospect. But this simplicity makes him a quick study, as it’s obvious what he can and can’t do.

What Ibrahim can do is run with power and fundamentals. There is little wasted movement in his game; it’s straightforward north-south running. This no-nonsense running style got Ibrahim a staggering 1,675 yards in 2022.

During his several seasons in Minnesota, Ibrahim was the catalyst of the Gophers’ offense. He won’t be leaned on as heavily at the next level. Still, it’s good to know that Ibrahim has no problem being force-fed touches.

At 24 years old, Ibrahim is one of the oldest players in the draft, but the Bears wouldn’t be drafting him to be a long-term solution. Instead, Ibrahim could be a stop-gap at the running back position for a year, and a solid value pick.
