Chicago Bears Day 3 Draft Picks

5th Round, Pick #136: Wanya Morris, OT

The offensive tackle out of Oklahoma is another RAS superstar who was one of the best combine testers. Despite the great score, he will be a later draft pick because there is a lot of room to grow in his technique. Morris was a surprisingly better pass protector than I expected, but I still think he has a ways to go. Putting Morris and Freeland in a long-term competition for a starting spot would be a step in the right direction.

Morris learning how to use his athleticism in the run game could be a great asset in his development at the next level, which shouldn’t be too hard.

5th Round, Pick 146: Eric Gray, RB

The Oklahoma running back could be a great fit in this Bears backfield that desires more pass catchers, which Gray is solid at. Gray has great burst and vision as he is very crafty and makes the best out of his situations. If Gray turned out to be one of the better running backs in the league I would not bat an eye.

7th Round, Pick #218: Jake Moody, K

Even though Cairo Santos was a great kicker in Chicago for the bulk of his time, his style fit in great with how tough it is to kick in Soldier Field. It is time to move on, simply put, if you are uncomfortable kicking 50-yarders with your starting kicker, you cannot be a team serious about winning.

Adding Moody who has experience kicking in unideal midwest kicking conditions during his time in Michigan could be a long-term solution to the Bears’ kicking struggles. Moody is an accurate first kicker who has a sneaky big leg. Getting him in the 7th round is a steal.

7th Round, Pick #258: Robert Beal Jr., EDGE

Beal, who was a very hyped-up EDGE rusher before his time at Georgia, did not have the college career we hoped for as he did not hit his ceiling in college. However, banking on the hyped-up highly touted high school recruit would be a solid move in the 7th round, where most of these picks don’t pan out anyways. Banking on Beal who has the raw athleticism to be great, and some good bend, is a risk anyone should be winning to take in the 7th round.
