Chicago Bears Roster: 3 Under-the-radar defensive free agents the Bears could add
Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Anthony Brown, CB
Another positional group that can always seem to use depth is the cornerback position. A player who could be an option for the Chicago Bears is Anthony Brown. Brown was a sixth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2016. This was when Matt Eberflus was part of the Cowboys' defensive coaching staff. In fact, in 2016 and 2017, Eberflus was not only the team's linebackers coach, but also the defensive passing game coordinator.
Brown is currently 29 and will not be 30 until December. In seven years, Anthony Brown has started 69 games and played in 94. He has nine interceptions and a return for a touchdown. Brown has five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery during that time too. He has averaged 46 tackles per season (37 solos).
From a coverage standpoint, Brown has been fairly decent. His worst year came in 2020 when he allowed 67.9% of his targets to be completed. In 2021 and 2022, he was targeted 209 times but only allowed 53% of those passes to be completed. 2021 was his best season in coverage though because he grabbed three of his nine career interceptions and only allowed a 78.4 quarterback rating.
Anthony Brown brings plenty of experience to the table and Matt Eberflus could look to bring him in and see how things shake out.
