We have reached the month of July, which in the NFL, signals the unofficial start of the new season as teams report to Training Camp. Chicago Bears' rookies will report to Training Camp on July 16, marking another opportunity to see how rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is progressing ahead of his first season in the NFL.
Expectations are high for Williams as he enters the NFL with not only the expectation of living up to the billing of being a "generational quarterback" but finally putting the misery at the quarterback position for the Bears to rest.
The early days of Williams' development will be on display for the world to see as the Bears are featured in the Training Camp edition of HBO's Hard Knocks. Williams' connection with his new teammates, including his work with tight end Cole Kmet, will likely be a key piece of the programming.
Williams and Kmet likely have some friendly banter considering the college rivalry between USC and Notre Dame. The two may have taken that to Top Golf after a friendly competition earlier this offseason. While speaking on Williams and his development, Kmet offered a glowing review of his new quarterback.
"“You can see why he’s been so successful thus far in his football career and why he has those types of intangibles to succeed in the NFL,” Kmet said. “I’m really excited for him. He’s been putting in a lot of work and you can see the progress he was making throughout the OTA period.”"Bears Wire
Looking beyond anything Williams has shown on the field, what has been most impressive is how quickly the rookie quarterback has connected with his new teammate. There were a ton of misguided character assasination of Williams in the months leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, and he has quickly dispelled all of them in the months since being drafted by the Bears.
