2. Will Chicago Bears be all over Marcus Davenport?

If the Chicago Bears are going to pay big for an edge rusher, it most likely is Marcus Davenport. Davenport has a lot of what they look for. and it starts with run defense. The Chicago bears were pathetic as a run defense last season. Marcus Davenport is around 270 pounds with intense strength and long arms to help set the edge.

He is almost the exact opposite of Robert Quinn in that regard. In the same light, he he has hardly shown off the pass rush presence that Quinn used to display. Davenport had nine sacs in 2021 and it looked like it was coming together. However, three of his five years in the NFL came with under five sacks, and last season he had half of a sack.

You can look at Davenport and say that is a former first-round pick with those athletic traits that got him there. The nine-sack upside is there, and the floor is what the team needs anyways. On the flip side, can they really pay big money for someone so unproven? He is not a bust but did not live up and most Saints fans are ready to see him leave.
