The Chicago Bears have just entered Indianapolis for the NFL Combine. Ryan Poles will assess all of the prospects to get trade offers, and we will have a much stronger look into what the team plans to do in the next couple of weeks. However, in a good way to introduce the prospects to some fans before the combine, we will do a mock draft for the team that controls the NFL draft. What do they plan to do?

We used the PFF Mock Draft Simulator to make the picks, so keep the discussion to players fit on the team and not whether they will be on the board.

1. Caleb Williams, Quarterback, USC

This one should not be a surprise by now. Even after Ryan Poles met with the media, there have are always going to be the small few who are holding onto the idea that the team will hold onto Justin Fields.

However, it has become clear to many that the tone of Ryan Poles’ press conference is very different and suggests that the team is planning to move on from Fields and move on to Caleb Williams as their starting quarterback.

Williams has some of the downsides due to his inconsistencies in trying to extend the play as well as his decision-making. However, he was often playing to make things easier for his poor defense, and if he can learn to play within the structure of the NFL offense, his ability to hit passes with accuracy to all areas of the field will beat out plenty of NFL quarterbacks, let alone Justin Fields.

This is going to be the pick; the question is just when they will trade Fields, who they will trade him to, and what they will get back in compensation.
