OTAs are done, and the Chicago Bears fan base has to wait a long time for training camp to start in over a month.
There will be a lot of discussions about who can make the team and who will be on the outside once preseason ends. The Bears have a ton of talent on the roster and will have some tough decisions to make, as it is one of the deepest rosters the franchise has had in a long time.
There are five players who are good, but might be losing time to make the roster after not having standout performances at OTAs. Here's a look at the five Bears players who have a lot of work to do at training camp if they want to be on the roster.
Scotty Miller, WR
Chicago's wide receiver position is pretty deep at the moment, with at least five of them who are locked in to make the 53-man roster. Miller was just signed over a month ago to give the Bears depth at the position, but might be on the outside looking in. His veteran experience might help him, but it depends on whether the Bears want to carry five or six receivers, as he is on the edge of the roster bubble.
Gervarrius Owens, S
Cam Lewis certainly complicates things at the safety position for the Bears. Dillon Thieneman and Coby Bryant are the starters, but Owens has to compete with Lewis and Elijah Hicks for the backup roles. Lewis and Hicks have been getting more looks on defense during OTAs, which could leave Owens on the outside looking in.
Stephen Carlson, TE
Carlson might be a long shot to make the Bears roster after the team selected Sam Roush in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The only way Carlson makes the roster is if Cole Kmet ends up actually getting traded before the season. Otherwise, Carlson will be using the preseason to generate interest from other NFL teams.
Dallis Flowers, CB
Even with the mass exodus of the cornerback position in the offseason, there is still a lot of competition there. Flowers is basically battling with Terell Smith for the final fifth cornerback roster spot, in which Smith should have the upper hand. It feels more like Flowers is going to find his way onto the practice squad.

Roschon Johnson, RB
This has been one of the most talked-about backups in the offseason, but Johnson is very much 50-50 on whether he will make the roster. After just two carries in all of 2025 with injuries mixed in, Johnson's spot on the team is not as secure with Brittain Brown, Coleman Bennett, and Salvon Ahmed all there competing. Johnson will need significant help and a standout preseason to stay on the team in 2026.
