To start their Week 14 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears and their offense had a rough go at it. It wasn't a pretty first half for Ben Johnson and his offense, but the Bears started to get things going later on.
A total of 80 offensive yards (48 rushing) in the first half was enough to make any Bears fan think, "here we go again." As the Bears got deeper into the second half, though, Chicago started running it more and more -- and it began to work.
After a big-time power run from rookie seventh-round pick, Kyle Monangai, FOX broadcaster Tom Brady had some high praise and seemed quite excited about what he was watching. Particularly, Brady saw Monangai flat-out level an All-Pro safety in green and gold.
"That is what he does. He does not hesitate at all. Just buries his body into McKinney in this cold weather. Lucky, McKinney got him by the shoelace or that could've been much worse," he said live on the broadcast.

Monangai had been lowering his shoulder all game long, taking on Packers defenders one by one. This run, in particular, was one where Monangai took on one of the best Green Bay defenders in safety Xavier McKinney.
It is one thing to put just any old defender on their back. It's another thing to do it to McKinney. We're talking about one of the best defensive backs in football, here.
And, to have the greatest quarterback of all-time call out exactly what Bears fans have grown to love about a Day 3 rookie ... ah, that's sweet. That's the stuff, right there.
Monangai's physical presence and running style have been something this Bears team has long been missing since David Montgomery's departure. But Ben Johnson and Ryan Poles indeed found that physicality once more.
Monangai is a breath of fresh air to this Bears team. He has brought the fight back to this team, along with the much-improved offensive line. Watching Monangai get low and send defenders to the ground, while running in the bitter Midwest cold, is an absolute thing of beauty.

It's true Chicago football. It's Ben Johnson football. It is entirely perfect. Hopefully, Monangai continues to get even better while holding an integral role in this offense for years to come.
