On her latest Making Monsters podcast, Taylor Doll spoke with Luke Braun, who covers the Minnesota Vikings for Locked on Vikings, to preview Monday night's game against the Chicago Bears. They go over the last matchup by discussing what worked and didn't work for each team.
Luke also shares his thoughts on Caleb Williams and where he sits through 14 weeks, but when the conversation shifted to the Chicago head coach opening, he brought up a name he loves for the Bears: Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
Making the case for Brian Flores as the next Bears' head coach.
“I think he'd make a really good head coach for the Bears specifically. I actually love it. I hate how much I love it for the Bears," Braun said on the show. "Because like, I mean, there's this idea of tradition with the Bears and stuff, but the Bears need their mean streak back, right? Like they need to get their 'everybody fears us' kind of thing."
"Everybody fears Brian Flores. The problem is that owners hate this guy. Many owners deeply hate this guy because of the lawsuit with Miami and all that stuff. Like, it is political. We thought we were losing him last year. He didn't get a call, it was crickets.”
Flores' first head coaching gig with the Dolphins did not go well and it did not end well, but he's probably going to get another shot at some point, and he could get an interview this cycle.
“I think as a fit, he has learned so much since his time in Miami in terms of how to connect with players and not be, you know, a total dick all the time. The Vikings defenders would go - every single one of them - would go to war for that guy immediately. You say anything ill about Brian Flores, it's on-site. They'll they'll fight you like they love him so much. And that's not the way that people who played with him in Miami, like if you listen to a Vikings player and a Dolphins player describe him, it'd be night and day. So he's different."
It's a fantastic conversation previewing the game and taking a look how both teams are trying to close the seaosn, so check it our wherever you get your podcasts or in the ember below.
