Chris Harris Suffers Setback, Expected to Miss a Couple Games

AUTHOR: | IN: Injuries | COMMENTS: None Yet

Don’t count on Chris Harris to be back patrolling the defensive backfield on Sunday and keeping Steve Smith and the rest of the Panthers receivers in check.  ESPN Chicago is citing sources close to the Bears that Harris suffered a setback with his injured hamstring and it’s likely to keep him out another couple of games. Harris participated fully in Wednesday’s workout, before suffering the setback that caused the club to hold him out of Thursday’s practice session and he is unlikely to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Harris underwent treatment in downtown Chicago on Friday, but there’s a [...]

Don’t Expect Marion Barber to Save the Bears Running Game

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Marion Barber practiced for the second straight day on Thursday, meaning he’s a step closer to make his regular season Bears debut on Sunday.  It’s no secret that the Bears running game has struggled to the tune of the second lowest rushing total in the league with a meager 161 yards on just 51 attempts through 3 games.  It begs the question – can Marion Barber save the Bears running game?  I hate to be a glass half empty kind of guy, but I’m not counting on it.  Check out my reasons why after the jump.

A Reading from the First Letter of Ditka to Jeff Pearlman

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

A Reading from the First Letter of Ditka to Pearlman Da Coach tore his robes and shouted “Blasphemy!” when word of Jeff Pearlman’s book about Walter Payton reached him. The new book paints the legendary Payton as a drug using, carousing, and depressed individual; quite the contrary to how most Bears fans remembered him.  Da Coach spoke very plainly when asked about author the book and author. “I’d spit on him,” the coach said in an exclusive interview with NBC Chicago. “I have no respect for him.” “Pathetic. Despicable. It serves no purpose,” Ditka said. Better da man who disrepects [...]

For Ron Rivera, Bears Game is Personal

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

One of Lovie Smith’s motivational tactics is the “us against the world” approach that often has his players walking into Soldier Field with big chips on their collective shoulders.  It’s very possible that strategy could backfire on Sunday because there’s a former member of his staff coming to town with a rather large chip on his shoulder.  And it’s personal for Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera: “It’s going to mean a lot,” Rivera said during his Monday news conference in Charlotte. “I’m going back to where I played my career as a Bear and started my coaching career. “It’s [...]

Roy Williams Making Excuses Not Catches for Bears

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: None Yet

Roy Willams is a little off track from Mike Martz’s preseason prediction of 70-80 catches.  At the current pace, he’ll need to pull in 5 catches and 73 yards per game over the last 13 games to get to 70 catches and 1000 yards.  I’m not holding my breath either.  He says all the right things, like about the Packers game: “It (the Packers game) was my fault. Put it on me, especially the touchdown. I have strong enough hands, especially with the contact that I got. It was a great hit by him, but I still have to hold [...]

Drivin’ Deez Nuts: Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire

AUTHOR: | IN: Commentary | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Something smells funny down at Soldier Field and it’s not dead fish on the lake shore.  The Chicago Bears, aptly named, offensive coordinator, Mike Martz, has been doing a lot of talking recently, and it’s starting to add up to a load of crap.  Let’s take a look at a couple of Martz’ promises and predictions over the last month or two and see what we can infer from them.

Jay Cutler and the Bears Miss Greg Olsen

AUTHOR: | IN: Bears | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

12 receptions.  169 yards.  1 Touchdown.  Do you think the Bears beleaguered receiving corps could use those kinds of numbers?  Those are the numbers for former Chicago Bear Greg Olsen, who is among the Carolina Panthers’ leading pass catchers.  Those numbers would rank Olsen second on the Bears behind only Matt “the one man band” Forte in catches and behind Johnny Knox in yardage.  Those numbers are missed by Jay Cutler and the Bears, especially in the red zone. Olsen returns to Soldier Field on Sunday after Mike Martz and the Bears traded him to the Carolina Panthers for a [...]
