4. Running backs

Matt Nagy has been unwilling to get to the running game. We will get to that later. However, the running game has not been an intriguing option. David Montgomery was exciting to Bears fans because they did not have a first or second-round pick. On top of that, they traded a fan favorite in Jordan Howard to get Montgomery more touches. Montgomery is likely on most fans fantasy teams.

Still, Montgomery fell to round three for a reason. He had questions in burst, open field speed, and overall an ability to create big plays. Montgomery is great moving laterally but does not have that explosion upfield to create off of that.

Montgomery is going to get better and needs more carries. However, they are not going to find big plays from him, and defenses automatically creep in on his presence due to his explosion.

On the other end, Tarik Cohen is playing in the slot as much as the backfield. Also, what happened to Mike Davis? Remember him?

More carries for Montgomery can help the defense by dragging out a first down or so. It is not going to put serious points on the board.
