The Chicago Bears are close to beginning their first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, a massive one for many players on the team.
This is the game to make a strong first impression on the coaching staff and prove they deserve to be on the 53-man roster. While the starters may not be showcased as often, the backups are ready to shine and win their spots on the team.
Five Bears players would be the biggest winners if they played well against the Browns. Here are the choices for who would benefit the most from the contest.
Which Bears players could be the biggest winners from Browns preseason game?
Roschon Johnson, RB
Johnson is somehow the third-string running back on the Bears for the moment after an unremarkable training camp so far. Salvon Ahmed has been making way more plays than Johnson and is right behind him on the depth chart. Johnson can prove why the Bears drafted him in the first place and keep his job on the roster with a strong performance; maybe an angry run or two would help.
Kaden Davis, WR
Over the last week, Davis has reportedly been making incredible plays at training camp. It's going to be tough for him to make the 53-man roster, but with Luther Burden III and Zavion Thomas out with injuries, this is his game to show how good he can be. A practice squad spot is most at stake here for him, but if Davis has a great game, it might be hard to ignore a conversation about a final roster spot for him.
Jedrick Wills Jr., LT
That pesky left tackle position battle isn't going to get solved as quickly as head coach Ben Johnson wants, but it could get a clearer winner by the end of the Browns game. Wills is battling with Braxton Jones and Kiran Amegadjie, but Jones most likely won't play with his injury. If Wills proves against his old team that he can play at a high level, he might not only make the team, but push Jones to start in Week 1.
Jordan van den Berg, DT
Van den Berg has been getting a ton of buzz out of training camp to the point that he is slowly getting first-team reps. The sixth-round rookie has a chance to really prove his worth and maybe jump into the rotation in Year 1. A tackle for loss or sack could go a long way in making that happen in the 2026 regular season.

Malik Muhammad, CB
Another Day 3 rookie who could really benefit from a great game. There are so many questions about the nickel position with Kyler Gordon still out and Cam Lewis also now hurt. If Muhammad has a monster day against the Browns' offense, maybe the rookie gets himself in the conversation as a Day 1 starter.
