This week in training camp, there was big indication on who might end up being the starting left tackle for the Chicago Bears.

Throughout camp, it was Braxton Jones, Ozzy Trapilo, Kiran Amegadjie, and Theo Benedet have battled it out for the job. This past week, Jones took control of the job, earning all the first-team reps while Trapilo and Amegadjie were moved to right tackle, and Benedet was the second-team left tackle.

During the Bears' win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Jones held the starting job at left tackle with Benedet coming in after him. It was another overall okay night for Jones, as he did his job well, although there were moments where he got beaten off the line.

The question going into the next two weeks for the Bears is did Jones do everything to win the job. There might be another question that will be asked throughout the season.

Jones might have won the Bears left tackle job, but can he hold on to it?

It has become clear that Jones is in line to win the job he owned last year on the Bears. He has played well, but certainly didn't do enough to make Bears fans confident that he has fully earned the job the whole season.

That leads to the other question as to whether Jones will be the starting left tackle the whole season. Bears head coach Ben Johnson has mentioned that even if the team names a starter at left tackle, they would be evaluating the position week by week.

There was some regret from Johnson that Benedet didn't get into the position battle earlier as the coach praised the second-year lineman. Benedet certainly has the size and ability to be a solid starter, but a lack of experience could be holding him back for now.

Bears fans were hoping that Trapilo would be able to take over the job as he had good performances at training camp. He just didn't separate himself from Jones to win the job.

Amegadjie was in the running at the beginning, but seemed to have lost momentum in the last few weeks. He's now in danger of missing out on making the 53-man roster.

There is some comfort that Jones seems to be the clear cut starter, but he needs to be consistent in protecting Caleb Williams if he wants to keep his job.
