They earned it.

Over the last year, there has been plenty of criticism that has gone in the direction of the Chicago Bears' offensive line.

Last season, they allowed an NFL-high 68 sacks and featured one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL. Bears general manager Ryan Poles knew he needed to make some changes to help his young quarterback, Caleb Williams.

During the offseason, the Bears brought in Jonah Jackson, Joe Thuney, and Drew Dalman to fill in the interior of the offensive line. While the 2025 season didn't exactly start off well, Sunday was a big turning point for the offensive line, which couldn't hold back their head coach from praising them.

Johnson had nothing but compliments for his position group

Bears head coach Ben Johnson spoke with the media, where he was asked about the performance of his offensive line in their 31-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Johnson had nothing but high marks for the group.

"They did a phenomenal job blocking for him," Johnson said via chicagobears.com. "When we are talking about him playing with his feet, playing through the hitches and yet he's not having to move off the spot, it really helps him out immensely.

"That's where if you're trying to get to two or three [in his progressions] and you're feeling some pressure, you're seeing some color and your eyes go down and they are off the spot, that's where the timing and rhythm of everything we are trying to get down is thrown off. [The line] did a great job last week."

Last week was a landmark moment for Williams' career as the offensive line did not allow a sack for the first time since the young quarterback joined the team. They kept him up and with minimal pressure on his face.

There are still some areas the group needs to work on, such as penalties. Right tackle Darnell Wright has been the worst offender of this with six on the season.

This week, the group might have some concerns with Wright not practicing at all this week with his elbow injury he suffered in the Cowboys games. It's starting to look like he won't be able to play, which would open the door for either Theo Benedet or rookie Ozzy Trapilo to play.

The Bears' offensive line will have another challenge in trying to stop Maxx Crosby from disrupting Williams as Chicago takes on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
