Caleb Williams has a knack for making impossible throws look routine. His highlight reel is full of passes that make defenses question how to defend the Bears’ quarterback while his teammates marvel at the athletic feats.

With the game on the line against the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round at Soldier Field, Williams made a throw that you see streamers attempt in the latest installment of Madden. On fourth-and-four from Los Angeles’ 14-yard line and the Bears down 17-10, Williams took the shotgun snap and had pressure on the edges. The Bears’ quarterback retreated backwards, turned around with defenders in his face, and fired a pass towards the back left portion of the end zone.

Somehow, the pass was placed perfectly to Cole Kmet. Soldier Field erupted after Williams’ latest miraculous throw.

Head coach Ben Johnson elected to tie the game with the extra point, sending the Bears and Rams to overtime. Everyone knows how the game ended. After the Bears’ defense forced a three-and-out, Williams and the offense took over, but the drive ended after the Bears’ quarterback was intercepted for the third time in the game on a pass intended for DJ Moore, which Williams said was a result of miscommunication between the two.

The Rams went on a 10-play, 54-yard drive that ended with a 42-yard game-winning field goal.

Bears' season ended horrifically, but still has great memories from Caleb Williams TD pass

Although the Bears' season ended abruptly, Williams’ game-tying touchdown will never be forgotten. Williams has had plenty of memorable passes this season, and veteran safety Kevin Byard III shared which one stuck out to him the most.

“His last one,” Byard said. “Naw, I’ve said that every time somebody asks me. That last throw, that touchdown to Cole, was unbelievable. I mean, guys were speechless on our sideline. I’m pretty sure they’re going to drop some highlights of some of that of just on our sideline. Actually, somebody burnt their jacket. I think it was somebody on the sideline getting footage and getting close, and she hit the heater right, and she almost burnt her jacket off. It was insane. No, but it was special.

He’s done it week in and week out. I don’t think it surprises anybody at this point. Honestly, I think he’s probably the most gifted thrower that I’ve ever seen. Obviously, we talk about Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford and all of these guys. When I look at, highlight his best throws, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone better. Me personally.  Like I said, maybe I have to go back to some old highlights of Aaron Rodgers or whatever but the throws that he’s made even just this year have been unlike anything that I’ve ever seen.”

Maybe Byard has some slight bias being Williams’ teammate, but to Byard’s point, the second-year quarterback has had some incredible throws this season. Some of Williams’ top passes were highlighted on Up & Adams with Kay Adams.
