2. Will Chicago Bears sign Tyler Kroft?

Tyler Kroft has bounced around the NFL as well. He will be in his ninth NFL season, he will be 31, and he will be on his sixth NFL team. Just like some of these other names, he is mostly known as a blocker. He has 1,648 blocking snaps. Still, he is not quite as limited as someone like Eric Tomlinson. Tomlinson spends 78% of his snaps blocking, Kroft is only at 58%.

Tyler Kroft has 105 career catches for 1,081 yards and 13 touchdowns. On the flip side Tomlinson has 27 catches for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Tyler Kroft is a good blocker, but he is a tight end. Tomlinson is a small tackle who provides nothing in the passing game.

Still, the idea is the same. Get someone who can help highlight the strengths of Cole Kmet. A veteran like Kroft may be helpful for a younger Kmet. Beyond that, the price tag of a player looking for his sixth team in nine years will not be high. A nice complement at an affordable price is what the team needs to find in free agency.
