This failed Bears experiment might not make it out of Vikings training camp

As the Chicago Bears prepare for training camp, one particular fan favorite is missing from the equation, but he now has the chance to make it onto a rival's roster.

One of last year's undrafted free agents, cornerback Reddy Steward, will now be entering training camp with the Minnesota Vikings, who happened to have a need for additional corner depth this offseason.

But, Steward would still seem to be further behind on the hypothetical depth chart. Maybe, just maybe, he could find his way back to Chicago if he ends up getting cut in Minnesota.

Reddy Steward went from takeaway machine to an enemy in the matter of one year

Some fans might remember Steward shining in both camp and preseason, last year, being somebody who consistently took the ball away. In fact, there was a time where many of us felt he would wind up making the 2024 roster.

You might even remember Steward's pick-6 which was the one play that sticks out when thinking of what could have been, had the Bears kept him on the roster last year.

Now in Minnesota, Steward theoretically sits behind Byron Murphy Jr. and Tavierre Thomas at nickel. Who knows where he would slot into the depth chart on the outside.

Now, the Vikings are set to start two brand-new starters at outside corner in Jeff Okudah and Isaiah Rodgers (barring a depth chart shake-up, which very well could happen). So, Steward isn't completely out of the running.

In fact, Minnesota was a great spot for him to end up. That's a team whose cornerback room could look a variety of ways come September. So, if he has a similar camp and preseason as he did last year, Steward might have a chance at a roster spot.

But, right now, it's looking more like an uphill battle.
